Why do we hold on to things? We all have items we hold near and dear to us. They make us who we are and we can never imagine to let them go.

The generations are passing that started this trend of holding on. They did because they lived through two world wars and the depression. It is understandable for them.

For us, it is time to let go. Here are the 20 things you need to go throw out right now.

1. Condiment Packets

These can expire very quickly. Unless you use them daily in your lunch bin then you need to chuck them. Condiment packets if overheated or kept long enough can break open and go all over. Which would cause a very unfun mess.

2. Empty Bottles

I do not know how many times I have been to someone’s house to find empty pop or alcohol bottles roaming around. I understand if you keep one that has a special memory but more than 3 is excessive.

3. Expired Medication

It’s expired. You cannot take it.

4. Expired Makeup

Expired Makeup can be very bad on your skin. The ingredients in them are not the greatest anyway but expire? ew.

5. Scraps of Wrapping Paper

Does anyone have grandparents that carefully take off the wrapping paper and fold it to use later? That might be ok for them because they lived through the depression but for you it’s weird.

6. Greeting Cards

If they mean no sentimental value to you then chuck them! You will probably never look at them again.

7. Receipts You Don’t Need

The one with the trip down to the local gas station to get gas and a coffee. Ya, you don’t need it.

8. Magazines

Oh, my word. This one is one of the worst. I have been to homes with piles of magazines. The worst part? The owner has not even looked through most of them.

9. Bills

After about two years it is time to shred old bills.

10. Old Prom Dresses

The days are over. It is time to move on.

11. Old Phones

They will probably never work again. If you do have the first generation of iPhone that works and looks nice then maybe keep that.

12. Old Buttons

The times you actually need to change a button is so few and far between that, it is just best to go to the store and buy a new button.

13. Old McDonald Toys

It was cute when you were twelve. No, they will probably not be worth something someday.

14. Scratched CDs

If you are wanting to fix them. Do it now. Here soon CDs will be a thing of the past.

15. Cable Cords

Do you have a box that is just full of random cords? TV cable cords. Old Chargers. Do yourself a favor and go grab that box and just walk right over to the garbage.

16. Tupperware Lids Or Containers

If you are missing the other half dump it. You probably will never find it.

17. Old Jello containers

Yes, your grandpa and grandma Jo might have these in their refrigerator and hand you one everytime you leave. Again, this is ok for them but you, its weird.

18. DIY items

… that you are still trying to figure out. If you clearly do not have the time to put together a dining room table out of pallets then toss them or give them to someone.

19. Screws & Nails

… from the furniture, you no longer have or don’t know where it goes.

20. Unused Vases

If you have more than 2 vases you have trouble.
